On October 24, the 2019 China Automotive Engineering Society Congress came to an end in Shanghai. At the closing ceremony, the winners of the "China Automotive Science and Technology Awards" in 2019 were released. The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses" jointly completed by Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd., Foton Motor Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua University won the first prize of "China Automotive Science and Technology Progress Award". The award is approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, organized by the China Automotive Engineering Society, and it is the only award for science and technology for the national automotive industry.

SinoHytec's hydrogen fuel cell engine technology with own intellectual property rights realizes the integrated energy management of hydrogen, electricity, and heat. The system is efficient and capable to operate in different working conditions with its fuel cell controlling method. -40 °C low temperature storage and -30°C low temperature cold start have been achieved and the technical problems of high power and high power density stacks have been solved. The products’ performance has reached the leading level in China and the advanced level in the world. Durability, economy and environmental adaptability of hydrogen fuel cell buses have been greatly enhanced.

Till now, vehicles equipped with SinoHytec’s hydrogen fuel cell engine systems have been operating in Beijing, Zhangjiakou, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and other places in commercial projects. Models like passenger cars, buses, logistics vehicles and cars are covered. Among them, nearly 300 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles operating in Beijing and Zhangjiakou have been tested in environment of low temperature and high latitudes in winter, and showed excellent performance. During these testing operation valuable data and experiences have been accumulated for the application and R&D of fuel cell vehicles for the 2022 Beijing- Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics.
